Gravitational-wave inference in the catalog era
As gravitational-wave transient catalogs grow, they will inevitably become contaminated by non-astrophysical sources which surpass our thresholds for inclusion. To avoid biasing our inference of population-level parameters it will be necessary to account for this contamination. In this work, we develop the necessary methods to perform this inference, and apply it to observations from the first two observing runs of advanced gravitational-wave detectors.
